Iohannes Dei gratia rex Angl(ie) dominus Hibernie dux Norm(annie) Aquitan(ie) comes Andegau(ie) comitibus, baronibus, iusticiis, vicecomitibus, prepositis et omnibus balliuis et fidelibus suis salutem. Precipimus quod moniales de Godestowe teneant omnes terras et omnia tenementa sua bene et in pace, nec de aliquo tenemento suo placitent nisi coram nobis vel coram iusticia nostra, quia predicte moniales et omnes possessiones sue sunt in nostra propria manu, custodia et protectione sicut littere patris nostri H(enrici) patentes testantur. Teste H(uberto) Cant' archiepiscopo cancellario nostro apud Hallon' xvi. die Iunii.
Mandate that the nuns of Godstow are to hold their lands and tenements quite of pleas except those before the king or the justiciar, because the nuns and all their possessions are under the king’s protection.
