I(ohannes) Dei gratia rex Anglie dominus Hibernie dux Normannie et Aquitannie comes Andegauie archiepiscopis, episcopis, abbatibus, comitibus, baronibus, vicecomitibus, prepositis et omnibus aliis ministris suis salutem.  Sciat(is) quod concedimus, volumus et precipimus quod Robertus com(es) Leicestr’ et hered(es) sui post eum habeant et teneant de nob(is) et heredibus nostris omnes terras suas et feoda sua cum omnibus libert(atibus) et liberis cons(uetudinibus) suis bene et in pace et honorifice, libere, quiete de sectis sciarum et hundr(edorum) et auxil(iis) vic(ecomitum) siue capiatur per hidatas terre siue per carucatas et de pecunia dando pro murdro et latrocinio et den(ariis) ad franc(um) pleg(ium) pertinentibus, et preterea concedimus tol et theam et infangeneth’ et soch et sach et quietanciam de dominicis suis per dominica nostra de pontag(io), passag(io), theoloneo, pedagio, paagio, stallag(io), tallag(io), geldis et danegeld(is), blodwite, fithwite, operationibus castellorum, murorum, pontium, parcorum, fossatorum, calcearum et domorum, et quod habeant liberam chaciam suam de Wisselay et de Winburneholt et captionem venationis in boscis ill(is) que fuit illi adiurata per legales milites in cur(ia) nostra apud Westm’ anno regni nostri primo.  Et concedimus quod predicti bosci sint quieti de wasto et rewardo.  T(estibus) R(anulfo) com(ite) Cestr’ apud Vernol’ xix. die Iulii anno r(egni) n(ostri) primo.

Notification that the king has confirmed to Robert earl of Leicester all his lands, fees, liberties and free customs, and that he may have his chace of Wysselay and of Holt, and may hunt in those woods, which was avowed by law-worthy knights in the king’s court at Westminster in the first year of John’s reign.
