Iohannes Dei gratia rex Anglie dominus Hybernie dux Normannorum Aquitanie et comes Andegauie archiepiscopis, episcopis, abbatibus, comitibus, baronibus, iusticiis, vicecomitibus et omnibus balliuis et fidelibus suis salutem.  Sciatis nos concessisse et presenti carta confirmasse Deo et beate Marie et sancto Kenelmo et abbati et conuentui de Wynchecumbe rationabilem donationem quam eis fecit Willelmus Atrebatensis aduocatus Betune et Teneremunde dominus in perpetuam elemosinam de terra sua in Glocestresira, videlicet Hallyng, Haselton et Ianeworth cum omnibus pertinentiis suis tenendas imperpetuum ad feodi firmam de ipso et heredibus suis plenarie et integre absque ullo retinemento exceptis donationibus ecclesiarum quas ipse retinuit in manu sua et heredum suorum, reddendo inde singulis annis pro omni seruicio et exactione ad ipsum vel heredes suos pertinente ei vel heredibus suis viginti libras sterlingorum, scilicet decem libras ad Pascha et decem libras ad festum sancti Michaelis.  Preterea reddent domui sancti Petri de Gloecestria annuatim viginti solidos, et si quis rex Anglie vel iusticie sue ipsum aduocatum vel heredes suos aliqua occasione de predictis terris dissaisierit, et predicti abbas et conuentus regi soluerint redditum quem aduocato vel heredibus suis reddere debent, de tanto erga ipsum aduocatum et heredes suos erunt quieti quantum regi reddiderint, et ipse Willelmus et heredes sui predictas terras warantizabunt plenarie, integre prefate domui de Wynchecumbe sicut elemosinam suam imperpetuum sicut carta eiusdem Willelmi rationabiliter testatur.  Testibus Henrico Cantuariensi archiepiscopo cancellario nostro, W(illelmo) Londoniensi et I(ohanne) Norwicensi episcopis, G(alfrido) filio Petri com(ite) Essexie, W(illelmo) Mariscallo comite de Penbrok, Roberto filio Rogeri, Hugone Bard’, Willelmo Briw’, Simone de Pateshule.  Datum per manum Symonis archidiaconi Wellensis apud Portecestre xiii. die Maii regni nostri anno tercio.

Calendar

Notification that the king has granted to Winchecombe Abbey the gift of William of Arras, advocate of Béthune and lord of Dendermonde, from his land in Gloucester, namely Hawling, Hazleton and Yanworth, rendering every year £20 for all service, namely £10 at Easter and £10 at Michaelmas; and Winchecome Abbey will render to the house of St Peter of Gloucester 20 shllings annually.
