Ioh(anne)s Dei gratia rex Angl(ie) dominus Hibernie dux Norm(annie) Aquit(anie) et com(es) Andeg(auie) archiepiscopis, episcopis, abbatibus, com(itibus), baron(ibus), iustic(iis), vic(ecomitibus), prepositis, ministris et omnibus ball(iuis) et fidelibus suis salutem.  Sciatis nos concessisse et presenti carta nostra confirmasse venerabili patri nostro in Cristo Huberto Cant' archiepiscopo et successoribus suis in perpetuum quod liceat eis terras quas homines de feodo ecclesie Cant' tenent in gauelikende conuertere in feoda milit(um) et quod idem archiepiscopus et successores suis tandem in omnibus potestatem et libertatem habeant in in perpetuum in homines illos qui terras easdem ita in feoda militum conuersas tenebunt et in heredes eorum qui ipsi archiepiscopus habet et successores sui post eum habebunt in alios milites de feodo ecclesie Cant' et in heredes eorum, et homines illi et heredes eorum eandem per omnia libertatem habeant in perpetuum quam alii milites de feodo ecclesie Cant' et heredes eorum habent, ita tamen quod nichilominus consuetus redditus denariorum reddatur integre de terris suis sicut prius, et xenia aueragia et alia opera que fiebant de terris eisdem conuertantur in redditum denariorum equiualentem et redditus ille reddatur sicut alius redditus denariorum.  Quare volumus et firmiter precipimus quod quicquid predictus archiepiscopus et successores sui post eum de terris illis in feoda militum secundum prescriptam formam conuertendis fecerint, ratum in perpetuum et stabile permaneat, et prohibemus ne quis contra factum ipsius archiepiscopi vel successorum suorum in hac parte venire presumat.  T(estibus) E(ustachio) Elien' et S(auarico) Bathon' episcopis, G(alfrido) filio Petri com(ite) Essex', Willelmo Marescallo com(ite) de Penbroc, Roberto de Harecort, Garino filio Geroldi, Petro de Stok', Ric(ardo) de Riueriis, Roberto de Tateshal'.  Dat' per man(um) Simon(is) archidiaconi Wellen' apud Rupem Aur(i)uall' iiiiº. die Maii anno regni nostri tercio.
