I(ohannes) Dei gratia rex Anglie etc omnibus ad quos presens scriptum peruenerit salutem.  Sciatis quod Willelmus de Stoteuill' finem fecit nobiscum pro tria millia marcis argenti pro cartis suis rationabiliter confirmandis et ut quietus sit de omnibus amerciamentis et de omnibus scutagiis que ab eo exigebantur usque ad diem Iouis proximam post mediam Quadragesimam quando primo venimus Ebor' postquam fuimus in regem coronati, scilicet regni nostri anno primo, et pro habendo manerio de Waltermeisnill' cum omnibus pertinentiis suis si sit in manu nostra, et si non sit in manu nostra et sit in potestati nostra plenum inde rectum teneri ei faciemus, et pro habendo recto de omnibus terris quas exigit versus Willelmum de Mobrai et tenentes de feudo suo, scilicet de Cukewald' et Cukewald'sir' cum pertinentiis et Malesard cum pertinentiis suis et de insula que vocatur Haxingholm' cum pertinentiis et Houingham cum pertinentiis et Hamton' in Ard' et de Tresk' cum pertinentiis et Meauton' cum pertinentiis et Willebron' cum pertinentiis et Burton' in Lonesdal' cum pertinentiis et Bondebi et Saxebi et Lyndbergh' cum earum pertinentiis et i. carrucatum terre in Stalingeb' cum pertinentiis et Landeford cum pertinentiis <et> Kyrkebi Monachorum cum pertinentiis et Creic cum pertinentiis, et de predicta pecunia reddet nobis predictus Willelmus mille marcas infra xv. dies post Pascha proxima post primam coronationem nostram et ad sequens scaccarium de festo sancti Michaelis quingentas marcas et ad sequens scaccarium Pasche quingentas marcas, et ita de scaccario ad scaccarium quingentas marcas quousque totum debitum soluatur.  Testibus: Willelmo Mareschallo comite Penbroc et G(alfrido) filio Petri comite Essex apud Guldeford xxii. die Aprilis.

Notification that William de Stuteville has made fine with the king for 3,000 marks for confirmation of his charters, and that he may be quit of all amercements and scuateges owing before the Thursday immediately after mid Lent in the first year of John’s reign, when the king first came to York after he was crowned, and for having the manor of ‘Waltermeisnill’, which is in the king’s hands, and for having right concerning all the lands that he claims against William de Mowbray, namely Coxwold, ‘Coxwold’sir’, ‘Malesard’, the isle of Axholme, Hovingham, ‘Hamton’ in Arden, Thirsk, Old Malton, Welburn, ‘Burton’ in Lonsdale, Bonby, Saxby or Saxby All Saints, Great Limber, and 1 carucate of land in Stallinborough, ‘Landeford’, Monks Kirby and Crayke, and he is to render to the king 1,000 marks fifteen days after Easter immediately after John’s coronation, and 500 marks at the following Michaelmas, and 500 marks at the following Easter,  and thereafter 500 marks at every Exchequer term until the debt is paid.
