Iohannes Dei gratia rex Anglie dominus Hibernie dux Normannie Aquitanie et comes Andegauie archiepiscopis, episcopis, abbatibus, comitbus, baronibus, iusticiis, senescallis, vicecomitibus, prepositis, ministris et omnibus balliuis et fidelibus suis salutem.  Sciatis nos dedisse, concessisse et presenti carta nostra confirmasse fidelibus hominibus nostris de Olerone et heredibus eorum quitanciam de festagiis et omnibus tayllagiis et exactionibus saluis nobis debitis redditibus nostris de prepositura de Olerone et exercitibus et equitationibus nostris que nobis debent, et preterea concedimus eis omnes libertates et liberas consuetudines quas rex Henricus pater noster et rex Ricardus frater noster et regina Alienor mater nostra concesserunt hominibus nostris de Rupella.  Concedimus etiam eis et confirmamus omnimodas liberas consuetudines per omnes terras nostras salua in omnibus libertate ciuitatis London’.  Concedimus insuper eis quod de aliquo tenemento quod ipsi tenuerunt in Olerone in bona pace per unum annum et unum diem sine calumpnia decetero non ponantur in placitum.  Quare volumus et firmiter precipimus quod predicti fideles homines de Olerone habeant omnes predictas quitancias, libertates et liberas consuetudines bene et in pace, libere et quiete, integre et honorifice sicut predictum est.  Testibus: domino Iohanne Norwic’ episcopo, Gaufrido filio Petri comite Essex’, Willelmo comite Sarr’, Rogero constabulario Cestr’, Rogero de Thoen’, Willelmo Bryewerr’, Petro de Stok’.  Dat’ per manum Ioscelini de Well’ apud Lexynton’ xxviii. Notification that the king has granted to the men of Oléron and their heirs quitance from lestage and other customs, and grant of all liberties and free customs that Henry II, King Richard and Eleanor of Aquitaine granted  to th emen of La Rochelle, and of  the free customs thorughout the king’s lands except in the city of London, and that henceforth for a year and a day they shall not be impleaded concerning any tenement that they hold in Oléron.
